As a Sonoma County Maternity Portrait Photographer, I often document sessions among the region’s rolling hills, iconic vineyards, and picturesque wineries. But every now and then, a family requests something a little different—like the rugged coastline of Bodega Bay. When they do, it’s always a favorite of mine. For Jaemee and Sean’s maternity session, we embraced a classic Bodega Bay element: the wind. And while it can be a challenge, it’s also what gave this session so much natural beauty and movement. We rolled with it—and ended up creating some truly stunning portraits.

Jaemee started the session in a relaxed, casual look—linen pants paired with a soft tan bralette that fit perfectly with the coastal tones of the cliffs. She looked absolutely radiant, calm and glowing despite the wind swirling around us. The light on the cliffs was dreamy, casting a soft glow that wrapped around her like a warm hug.

We ended the session down at the beach, where Jaemee changed into a fitted white dress that highlighted her beautiful bump. It was one of those surreal moments as a photographer—the beach was completely empty. I’ve never experienced that before at Bodega Bay. Having the shoreline entirely to ourselves made it feel even more intimate and peaceful.

As a mom of three boys myself, I always love chatting with expecting mothers during sessions. There’s something so special about connecting over the joy, anticipation, and sometimes nerves of pregnancy. I often find myself remembering those exact feelings, especially when I was pregnant with my first. And no matter how much I try to prepare them, nothing truly compares to what’s coming—the most life-changing, beautiful experience of all.
