I’ve documented many weddings in Mexico but this was my first time as a wedding photographer at Dreams Tulum and lets just say it did not disappoint. My husband and I flew down two days before the beautiful wedding day and had such a wonderful time. From the all inclusive drinks and food, the two pools to choose from, cabanas by the beach, it was such a nice getaway we were able to turn this trip into. Ive known Marla for a few years now, we met as she does hair and makeup for weddings and now does the majority of my clients makeup for their big days. It was finally her turn to be the bride and what a beautiful bride she made.
Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa is a expansive resort located 90 minutes from the Cancun airport. Perfectly landscaped this Tulum resort is ideal for a Mexico destination wedding. With access to the private beach, gym, multiple restaurants and pool bar it has almost everything you need. I have documented many Mexico weddings and familiar with Cabo and Cancun but Tulum has a much more tropical, lush feel. Marla chose to get ready at the Dreams Tulum Spa in their bridal suite and it was surrounded by the most beautiful greenery, I knew we had to do the bulk of her pre ceremony portraits at this exact location. Since this was a destination wedding and taking full advantage of being in Mexico the couple decided to do the majority of their formal portraits pre ceremony which is what I always recommend.
The wedding ceremony site at Dreams Tulum was held at the rooftop of one of their restaurants which overlooks the water. Truly one of the most beautiful ceremony views I have ever seen. There are multiple options Dreams Resort and Spa gives to their couples for their ceremony site such as beach front or the church and happy that Marla chose the rooftop. The ceremony was perfectly decorated with tropical, lush florals and large palm trees in the background. The two exchanged heartfelt personal vows and were applauded by family and friends who supported their marriage.
After the ceremony the couple went to the beach for cocktail hour and the reception. Since most formal portraits were already completed the two were able to get the party started and join their friends and family before sunset portraits. Guests were greeted into cocktail hour with tequila shots in true Mexico fashion.
The sand in Mexico hits different than it does in California. Its this white pure sand which creates such beautiful skin tones, it was a photographers dream. As I took the couple out for their sunset portraits it started to rain just for about a few minutes but those happen to be some of my favorite images from the day.
The two ended the night partying, dancing on the beach way past the sun going down and it was so fun to witness these two have such a great time. Big thank you to Marla & Channing for choosing me to document your beautiful day!
